Life Sciences

In the research program Alexander v. Schwerin studies the development of the life sciences within the MPG from the perspective of the prioritization of various disciplines, organizational forms of research and scientific infrastructure. Special topics include molecularization and bio-medicalization, the transformation of research in the life sciences; the commercialization of science; the societal debate about science and technology; and the control and planning of this field of research in the overall contexts of the contemporary history of the Federal Republic of German and global history.
