PD Dr. Fabian Link
History of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies 1985-2003
Fabian Link’s main focus of research is on the history of the humanities and social sciences in Nazi Germany and the Cold War. He studied medieval and modern history, social anthropology, and classical archeology at the University of Basel and worked in the archeological service of the Canton of Berne in Switzerland. In 2012 he earned his doctorate at the University of Basel on the history of castle research and medieval archeology in the Nazi regime. From 2012 to 2018, he worked as an assistant in Moritz Epple’s research group on the history of science at the Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main, where he passed his Habilitation (2019), on the history of the social sciences in West Germany in the early Cold War. From 2018 to 2020 Fabian Link was a guest researcher at the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt; as of 2020 he teaches history of science and technology at the University of Wuppertal.
